Freelancing while employed full-time?

What does the law say when it comes to freelancing while being employed full-time?

Also, can an individual be employed full-time at two place at the same time? e.g. 9 am to 5 pm at one place and 6 pm to 2 am at the other?

Whatever the law may say, it is not possible for a person to hold two fulltime jobs without cheating at least one of the employers. If I were the employer, I would immediately sack the person.

A part tme job of two hours may be tolerated.

Ethically two full time jobs is wrong.  Part time job without disturbing thefull time employment is acceptable as this may be the need of the person engaging himself for parttime failing which he may fall on wrong track and start wrong practices to meet his demands.

All statutes prohibit double employment.

Therefore legally no one can do two fulltime jobs.

why is double employment (one full time and other free lancing) wrong ethically?  If someone is working two jobs to make ends meet or earn extra income what is so wrong is that? Its being automatically assumed that anyone who works two jobs is two timing the employer. More mature markets in the US allow people to allocate their time and are even flexible in these regards, as long as confidentialty and work are not affected.  Two full time jobs (working at two places simultaneously) maybe wrong if employer is not intimated or if it is done in a clandestine manner. Legally, sadly, its not yet possible to work two jobs. But that is an impediment for someone who is willing to work two jobs to earn money.
