Gift deed

Hi

I want to add my wife's name on my property  in Mumbai so that she becomes a co-owner(50%). I have been advised that that the relatively easier way of doing it is tthorugh a gift deed.

What would be approximate cost for doing a gift deed and getting in registered for a property  which is  worth  approximately 50 lakhs.

How much would be the approximate  solicitiors fees, stamp duty and registration fees and  do I have to pay the society as well??

1.  Stamp duty = 2% of the rateable value, on the 50% Gifted portion of the Flat.
2.  Registration fees  =1% of the Gift Deed value.
3.  Society membership entrance fees = 100/- + Forms
4.  Advocate Fee = Depending ....


SUGGESTION:  Avoid doing, what you intend to do.  Instead make a Registered WILL, in her favor.
