Dear Shail,
It is mandatory to gift the amount thru., cheque.
affidavit is sufficient.
affidavit will be always on the stamp paper.

I have one more question.the gift amount is already tranfered by cheque.
Can i make affidavit now? (i.e. gift is already made few months before)
Also gift deed on plain paper is valid for gift from close relative?
