Hearing dates in cat/court cases

Hello Everyone!

  1. On what basis are Hearing dates in court cases decided?
  2. Are Hearing dates allocated on a random basis or is there some procedure?

I would like to know the answers of the above queries because, i had my hearing today in CAT. As per the day's causelist my case was almost last in the list. They didn't hear my case today (eventhough, both lawyers were there), and then i was allocated a date 2 months later for my next hearing!!

It is really frustrating to wait for so long again now, i would like to know what is the criteria to allocate dates for hearing?

there is no criteria or rules in this regard

There is no criteria or any specified law regulating the hearing dates.  The CAT functions on the basis of the burden and work load, thus it is normal that your case was not heard on that day due to shortage of time or assignment of time to other major issues.  You have to bear with it.
