Section 188(a) of the CrPC clearly lays down that if a citizen of India commits a crime outside of India, "he may be dealt with in respect of such offence as if it had been committed at any pleace within India at which he may be found." So the case is valid, technically.

Well, when (and if) you're served with a notice by the police to appear in the police station (or wherever the notice states,) please note to comply with it. If at any time you fail to comply with the terms of the notice, the police may arrest you. Most likely you'll have to pay some fine by the end.
