I work for a call center in Noida for one of the largest banks of the UK. The way sickness is treated here is downright inhuman. No matter how sick you are, even if you are presenting certificate from a registered doctor, you must come to the office start taking calls and once your situation deteriorates to a breakdown they shall call an ambulance and then you earn yourself a sick leave and you are constantly chased by the manager to report to office as soon as possible. In one case a colleague had bone marrow cancer she was pressurized to come to office just after a major surgery. Quite a many people have fainted on the floor because of this practice by team managers. And if you don't report to the office in sickness then no paid leave, no incentives for one month and no promotion for one year.
Please advice what can be done and also name some organizations that can really help us.
