Kindly advise

Respected experts,

A person was convicted by JMFC court and sentenced him to simple imprisonment for 3 months for assaulting  one of my relatives.

Now that person has filed an appeal in the Session Court against the verdict.

I would like to know whether we can engage our own lawyer along wikth the Govt lawyer (PP) to fight the case.Because the opp party has engaged a good criminal lawyer and the Govt lawyer (PP) may not be able to give a good fight.

Kindly advise and the formalities for engaging a lawyer.

Regards.

You can engage a private lawyer and file a petition under section 302 (2) of Cr.P.C before the sessions court to get permission.  your lawyer can assist the prosecution.
