difference between lawyer and advocate

how to verify thier enrollment in Maharashtra
can it be checked online or only offline

1. Check the registration no. of the Advocate from the Bar Council.  No online faciity available, as yet.

He who passes law degree is a Lawyer while he who gets himself enrolled in Bar Council is an Advocate.

The word Advocate is usually used for a lawyer only. This is a person who has completed law degree and eligible to stand in the court on behalf of his/her clients.
