Motor accident case

Hi all,

I was riding a bike and it hit a person who was crossing the road, not on a zebra line. I took her to the hospital and paid the bills. The person is fine, but I no longer have contact with them. I myself informed the police and followed up. I have now the following questions.

1. Should I hire an advocate for the case?

2. Is there any need like the other party be present in the court?

3. Somebody was telling me that I should accept the case. Is that the way to do it? Will it affect me in some other processes like visa (if I pay the fine and come out, thats what I was told in such cases, correct me if I am wrong)?

4. Should I need to go to court again in case the other party filed the insurance case?

Thank you for you reply. Sorry I am a novice in this area. An FIR was filed, that does mean that there is a case right? Police told I would get a summons. Can somebody please provide me an answer to the other queries also?

Thank you.
