Need help tracking estate

We live in Australia and our father died last year in Mumbai.  He was an Indian national and Christian.  We are not sure how to find his will and finalise his estate.  We have contacted the Indian Consulate in Australia and they cannot assist.  Is there a legal procedure in India we need to follow or does anyone in Mumbai specialise is such matters.  We have the details of the nursing home where he passed away but no details of who was handling his legal affairs or estate

Dear Valmea,

To proceed for the Legal affairs of your father and his estates, you need to:

i) take his "DEATH CERTIFICATE";

ii) search for his "WILL" if any (Registered) with "DISTRICT RESITRAR/SUB- REGISTRAR OF MUMBIA";

iii) for the above two purposes, if it is impossible you to come over to india, you have to appoint any "COUNSEL / LAWYER / INDIVIDUAL " as your "Representative/Power of Attorney" (if personaly know to you you can appoint him or otherwise wait for any reply from MUMBAI);

BUT YOU QUESTION IS SILENT ABOUT  "E S T A T E" ;

i) Where is the known estates situated (Property / Bank Deposits/etc.,)

ii) who are in possession over the estates.

Please wait for further replies of "Mumbiakars"
