Notice period

My friend has been working in a reputable school in Bangalore but due to certain reasons resigned in February 27.

The HR insists that even though she has resigned close to the end of the academic year she will have to pay 3 months salary in lieu of notice period.

The school closes on April 10 for summer vacation however it will have summer. Purses and IB classes continuing. My friend offered to complete the remainder 1.5 month notice period during this time to which the Hr answered that is not an option.

The employment agreement allows for the Principal to waive the remains notice period.

As she has resigned close to the end of the academic year no student shall suffer any hardship, no classes or syllabus will be disrupted, all work assigned to her has been completed.

Out of many reasons to resign one specific incident is when a few favoured teachers brought in and passed wine during school hours at short break. The school has in house food facility and is strictly vegetarian despite that teachers have started indulging in activities such as bringing and partaking in wine and non veg food.

My friend declined the offer to have it but it brought her much agony as such activities should not be allowed.

Despite numerous administrative actions which have been disruptive and some down right idiotic things remain same and no action is taken against such persons.

On the other hand teachers who do not bow down are often harassed and targeted.

Please advise.

The employment offer letter conditions will stand valid hence without perusing the terms and conditions of the employment no proper opinion can be rendered.
