You cannot correct the school records for any reason.
If the place of birth conforms to the birth place recorded in the birth certificate, it should suffice the requirements for all the purpose.

The place of birth if correctly mentioned in the birth certificate then there is no problem about a differnt place mentioned in the school certificate.
You can get the passport issued based on the biorth certificate
