Police complaint filed. what next?

Due to some difference, one of the tenants of our Society manhandled me, Secretary of the society. I logged my complaint at the local police station. In the complaint Amaldar has written IPC 504 & 506. Amaldar also called the tenant and warned him.

Now that the complaint has been logged, what happens next?

Does the case go to the court automatically?  OR

The fact that the Amaldar noting the complaint warned the tenant means all is settled?

Note - The tenant too have logged a complaint against me.

Regards,

FIR will go to the court if the dispute is not settled.  After police will make an investigation and will file chargesheet.  If police found that there was offence is committed then they will file false report to the court.  If offence is committed they will file the chargesheet then summons will be issued to the accused.  Accused will have to apply for the bail.  After completing the formalities court will issue wittness summons to you and other wittnesses for the evidence.
