Professional tax

We have our offices in both Delhi and Mumbai, are supposed to pay the professional tax at both places or can we avoid this liability by directing our payments through the Delhi office since there is no professional tax applicable in Delhi.

Ask the opinion of your Legal adviser in writing as to whether there is such an exemption in Professional tax rules.  The professional tax belongs to local authorities and decided on the basis of workplace location.

CONSIDER THIS:
1. IF you have an office anywhere in Maharashtra, THEN "Profession Tax" is payable on account of the Co. /Firm (2500/-) and also addtionally deductable from Directors /other Staff.

2. The above "might"  be applicable to Delhi too.  Kindly confirm with your Co. CS /CA, in Delhi.

1. IF you are an Indian with a Indian PAN card (Income Tax card), and IF your earnings get credited to your account in India and further IF you are below 65 years of age, THEN you become liable to pay "Profession Tax", to the respective State Govt.
