Hey,

The Indian law is clear that the grandsons and granddaughters have no right to inherit of the grandfather or grandmother if their own father or mother are alive. The grandkids does not have a birth right over the self acquired property of the grandparents. However, the grandparents can transfer his property to whomever he/she wishes in a will during his/her lifetime.

By way of Hindu law of inheritance, the self acquired property of the deceased grandparent devolve on the sons/daughters in equal proportion along with the surviving spouse of the deceased who are legally entitled to inherit the property.

Hope this answer helps you.

Best regards,
