Resignation by treasurer

Dear Sir / Madam, I am resident and member of a Co-op Hsg Society Located at Pune City. Suddenly Treasurer has submitted his Resignation Letter after last Managing Committee Meeting. We would like to know the Procedure for the same. Is there any provision in By - Laws regarding the notice period for the resignation ? Regards, M J

He is supposed to continue till a new member is appointed to the post to check and take over the accounts from him.

There is no notice period stipulated under the byelaws. But still a treasurer cannot suddenly go away. His letter of resignation should be placed before the Managing Committee for consideration and approval or denial. The resignation will be considered at the next MC meeting. The Chairman may call for an early meeting, if necessary. If the MC ratifies the resignation, it shall ask the outgoing Tresurer to render all accounts and hand over books of accounts to an MC member specified by the MC. The MC at the same meeting or another meeting may elect another MC member as Treasurer. If the Treasurer resigns only from his position as Treasurer, he will continue to be an MC member. If he resigns from his membership of MC also, the Chairman/Secretary should inform the Election Authority of the vacancy in the MC. The vacancy can be filled only as per instructions from the election authority. These are as per amendments to the law in 2016.
