Restaurants rules: exhaust fan outlet

We see that lot of restaurants have exhaust fans from their kitchens and this are is released to surroundings. This spreads the foul smell of what they are cooking continuously. They may not form ducting for releasing this air. In comparison, any chimney that they need to have, it needs to be raised to the maximum elevation present in the building.

I want to know whether there are any restrictions on releasing the air from exhaust fans to atmosphere thus saving the neighbours and other residents in the building of the food smell through the day.

I want to know these rules for Maharashtra.

Thank you and best regards.

Your concern in a way is not less than  a second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure.  Second-hand smoke contains several toxic chemicals that are known to pollute the air and harm people's health.

Just file a complaint with the Health Dept of your concerned Municipality which had surveyed, inspected the premises and then issued license to the restaurant. Include cc to Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Secretary of your Building and the restaurant owner.  The concerned Municipal Health Inspector is also liable for his inaction and you can take all of them together to court for your health hazards.
