Right on ancestor property

Hi,

Let me first explain the background of my case. I am the only son for my Dad’s first wife, born in 1980. My parents got married sometime in 1977 or 1978. My parents got divorced sometime in 1985/1986, between my father already had an affair and a baby girl was born in the year 1983/84, who is currently married in the year 2011 (I strongly believe that girl is not his daughter, and may belong to my step mother’s first husband. If she still is daughter of my father and my step mother, I guess he is against law). He also got another son who was born sometime in 1990/1991. My mother is no more, she died in the year 1999. Now, my father got a property from my grandfather who died sometime in early 90s. My grandmother is also no more. My questions are below,

  1.       Will I have equal rights to get a share in the property? If yes, what % of share am I eligible for?                     2.      Will my step sister be eligible for a share in the property, considering she is daughter of my father? If yes, what % of share?                                                                                                                                                                   3.       How many shares will the property be divided if it is divided right away (my father and step mother being alive)?                                                                                                                                                                                           4.       Also when my parents got divorced, per law, I was supposed to stay with my father and all the expenses were to be born by him. I never stayed with him and all my expenses were taken care by my mother and my maternal grandparents. Can I ask for the compensation at the age of 32 years for not bearing any of my educational or any other expenses?

Appreciate if you can provide as much detail as possible.

Thanks in advnace for your replies.

Regards,

Sachin.

you may ask for partition of the ancestral property and cliam your share in it. for this you would be required to serve a legal notice uponyour father. incase your father fails to do so then you need to file a partition suit in the court.

Thank you for the response. I also had the below questions, please answer the same.

1. What % of share am I eligible for?
