Hello, greetings of the day.
At present according to law, any member of a co-operative housing society is eligible for voting and contesting election, the moment he/she becomes the member of the co-operative housing society. Considering the amendment of Section 27 of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act 1960, the two years waiting period for the voting rights have been removed. As a result of such an amendment, any eligible member or even an associate member with the consent of the first member can stand for the election immediately after he/she seeks the membership and his/her admission is made as a member of that society. If the person is an associate member and he is held responsible for the non-submission of the no-objection certificate and undertaking, as it has been prescribed under the bye-laws, by the members, then he cannot stand for the managing committee post.
Finding any irregularities in the conduct of election, or any misconduct by your co-operation housing society, you can make a complaint against the Managing committee of your co-operation housing society to the Deputy Registrar of the CHs under your area under bye law No. 174(A)(xvii)
