The cases which were registered till 30.06.2024 will be tried as per the law under which it was framed. The new law will be effected only for the case which are filed with effect fro 01.07.2024 The BNSS allows in-absentia trial of proclaimed offenders under specific conditions. Section 356 of the BNSS mandates the court to proceed with the trial in absentia when a person declared as a proclaimed offender has absconded to evade trial, and there is no immediate prospect of arresting him.
