In any city, especially in a busy one like Bangalore, between 7 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., you can listen to the senior constabulary reel out these numbers over the wire-less to a group that connects the police station across the jurisdiction and falls under one ACP and DCP.
What exactly is this Police Force ? How should you interact with them ? How should you set the law into motion and move out of the premises, with your dignity intact.

Around the year 2013, I had been to a Police Station to meet a Sub-Inspector who had attended my program and wanted to discuss a cyber-crime case.
He was a very dynamic chap ( Around 24 years of age ) who had nabbed a vehicle-thief, but that day, he was frustrated with the system, himself.
His cabin was near the lock-up of that police station and he was standing with lathi in hand and the thief, a well-built six-footer but a young chap was standing without any reaction to the blows.
He told me “ Sir, I have struggled a lot for many months, to catch this b*****d.
But his advocate calls me and says he is already working on the bail application and the local politician has already spoken to the DELTA ( Delta is the code word here in Bangalore to mean Dy.SP of Police of that rural segment from which this thief hails ) and through him, tried to project as if I have been working out some old vengeance against this b*****d and now our Charlie ( Inspector of Police ) has already given me a hint that I might be required to hand the file over to our Number 2 ( Sub-Inspector Number 2 ).
Now this fellow is not opening his mouth.
I have to match the engine number from the list given by the RTO ( Regional Transport Organization ), before preparing the report.
There are so many formalities to be completed but this fellow is not opening his mouth.
Over and above this, as per the recent circular from our CoP ( Commissioner of Police ), we have to treat everybody with respect.
Sir, You tell me Sir, shall I get this b*****d, some tea and sandwich and respectfully ask him
“ My dear brother, how many vehicles have you lifted from the parking zone and to whom have you sold them, with your kind mind ? “
As he was asking me this question, he gave that thief another blow with the lathi.
So, this is just one of the many scenarios that exist in the force.
Not even one percent of the incidents in the force, their language of silence,…etc about that world of police and the force, is known to the General Public.
It should remain that way, since the crimes in the country are so complex that revealing many things is too much of a security risk to the nation’s law and order wing.
So, let me limit myself to this incident and the tips and methods for you to interact with the police, complete your task and exit with dignity.
OK, Readers, you must understand that this police force is there from the times of the kings and then the kothwal system in the early 1900s and post-1960s, it is a fully organized and AUTHORIZED force.
You have the regular police force, the reserve police battalions, the emergency strike force, the Anti-Terror Squad, the Anti-Naxalite Squad, the Commando Force,…etc.
Now these people deal with weapons day in and day out.
These people see murders, rapes, dacoity, robbery, smart criminals ( some criminals use a wet-cloth over the door-lock, to remove finger prints while they break into houses to commit a robbery ), white-collared criminals ( cyber criminals, highly qualified people indulging in crimes and the rich and powerful so-called high-class citizens, in the private industry resorting to crime ).
Law and Order Wing is a huge world in itself.
NOW, THE BIGGEST CATCH HERE IS THAT THEY ARE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.
THAT IS, THEY ARE PAID TO WATCH THESE DEAD BODIES, THE MURDERED PEOPLE, THE HOUSE BURGLED,…ETC
So, if you were paid to handle weapons and do the other activities listed above, what will your personality resemble ?
It will resemble the Huge Lion in the Forest with all Meat brought at its’ feet and all that it has do is to just eat the prey.
SO, REMEMBER RULE NUMBER 1.
NEVER EVER RAISE YOUR VOICE WHEN YOU ARE WITH THE POLICE.
IF THERE IS A WRONG HAPPENING, STARE HARSHLY AND EITHER CONVEY THROUGH SILENCE OR SUMMARIZE YOUR SITUATION IN ONE OR TWO LINES AND ALLOW THE SILENCE TO MAKE THE POLICE SPEAK.
REMEMBER ONE THING TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.
‘ THE POLICE WILL NEVER COMMIT TO ANYTHING ‘
Why ?
Let me explain.
Say, for instance, you issue a statement and he enters that in the Station House Diary and you even sign and affix your thumb impression.
Even then, such a confession is NOT treated as EVIDENTIARY piece, by the CrPC ( Criminal Procedure Code ).
Unless a confession is made before a magistrate, it can be easily squashed in the court by your advocate.
This is one reason why the Police always maintain a distance from the Advocates.
Psychologically many police personnel are so deeply impacted that they study for their LLB and wait for an opportunity to tear the defence of the Advocate, but they fail almost all times.
Whenever they see an advocate, many police personnel develop an INFERIORITY COMPLEX and they feel ILL-EQUIPPED in the BRAIN, when compared to the Advocate.
But there is also a deep-lying hatred for the advocates.
Today, a particular rowdy, wanted in a rape and murder case, gets acquitted due to a weak prosecution.
ANY CRIMINAL ADVOCATE FIRST ATTEMPTS TO DILUTE THE CASE.
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THIS.
UNLESS AND UNTIL YOU HAVE REALLY STRONG EVIDENCE AND ALSO PSYCHOLOGICALLY SUPER-SMART, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE CRIMINAL CONVICTED.
Such an acquittal of a criminal irritates the police who have struggled to nab that person and this explains their deep hatred for the advocates .
But, deep within them, the Police always prefer to stay away from the advocates, since a weak evidence coupled with a super-smart advocate with his convent-english and some respectable position in the advocate fraternity can literally tear into the work of the police and get the accused acquitted.
The advocate would not stop with that. He knows the shape to give to the case that it results in a service matter to the police and after suspension that police would be required to approach an advocate to fight his case.
The turn of events are similar to the snake and mongoose fight, between the advocates and the police.
So, amidst the daily sequence of events, with a huge number of complaints, they easily get offended if you raise your voice.
