The Union law ministry is set to become the first ministry to have its own television channel which will beam discussions and Constitutional interpretations on key legal issues such as triple talaq and uniform civil code, apart from debates on important judgments to spread legal awareness.

...  a separate channel  ...  32 Direct-to-Home channels .... The ministry is considering hiring the services of leading Bollywood directors like Prakash Jha in produ cing quality programmes on legal education for the marginalised. ....

...  It has simultaneously floated an open competition for freelance filmmakers and students of various law schools to participate in a filmmaking contest where the prize money will range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 for films having a duration from five to 30 minutes in each category .

The apex court, had , through a judgement, shot down any idea of having its proceedings recorded. The SC was not ready to allow the practice to start even in the lower courts, which the government said was part of the phase-2 of the e-courts project and easier to implement along with the computerisation of courts.

ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS IDEALITY.

Judge's decision is final & only judicial alternatives thereupon. But eanbles equivalents of: Action replay. Back end analysis even much later. This thus goes hand in hand with above, checks much of the errors (& Frauds) & becomes a great tool for education.

SC takes first step towards video recording court trials

Dhananjay Mahapatra

New Delhi

………… However, the SC barred access of the video footage to lawyers, litigants and general public through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. ……….

…….. The Centre said in its affidavit that audio-video recording of court proceedings could contribute to transparency of court processes and better case management. The SC bench posted the matter for further hearing on August 9 when it will examine the report on installation of CCTVs in trial courts……………

HOPE THE DECISION ON NOT TO MAKE ABOVE AVAILABLE ON RTI WILL BE REVERSED. FURTHER, LET IT BE STORED PERMANENTLY. TECHNICALLY, STORAGE ETC IS NOT ANY BIG PROBLEM. LET SYSTEMS, PROCEDURES BE PUT IN PLACE. LET HONESTY, VIRTUES BE THE ONLY CRITERION FOR WHATEVER IS DONE.
