Whose Liability

A company appointed a contractor to construct a building. A worker died at site due to electricity short which was supplied by company. Who will be responsible for such causality? Whether vicarious liability on company under tort. whether doctrine like respondent superior applies.... thanx

if the contractor was a independent contractor then he is liable otherwise company is liable
