Dear Mr Kumaran, The Witnesses on a document are called Attesting Witness. Yes, you can take your mother and father as Witness. Regards Shubham Bhardwaj (Advocate) District & Session Court, Chandigarh Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh Disclaimer:- Opinion is only for guidance.

I concur with the advise of experts, your father and mother can be witness.

As per your concern only parties to an agreement cannot act as witnesses, other than that any person either related or not can be a witness to registeration.

Basically, a witness is a person who deposes as to his knowledge of facts in issue between the parties in a cause.
