1) 5-Judge Bench formed to hear OBC case:

Chief Justice of India K.G.Balakrishnan has constituted a five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court to hear on August 7 the petition challenging the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006, providing for 27 percent quota for the OBC and the 93rd Constitution Amendment law under which the OBC quota legislation was enacted.

Besides the Chief Justice, the judges on the Constitution Bench are Mr.Justice Arijit Pasayat, Mr.Justice C.K.Thakker, Mr.Justice R.V.Raveendran and Mr.Justice Dalver Bhandari.


2) No Immunity for revenue officers: Madurai High Court Bench:

Revenue oficers of local bodies cannot claim immunity from disciplinary proceddings for failure to collect taxes.

3) Unique stike by lawyers:

Lawyers practicing in Jodhpur High Court have been boycotting courts on the last working day of every month for the past 20 years protesting against the establishment of the Bench at Jaipur.
