Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that the state government would examine whether the riots cases mentioned in the Justice Srikrishna Commission report that probed the 1992-93 Mumbai riots could be reopened. The commission's report blames among others Sena supremo Bal Thackeray for instigating attacks on Muslims. The report was rejected by the Sena-BJP combine for being ""one-sided,"" but it has again come to haunt the saffron parties following conclusion of the Mumbai serial blasts trial.[font=arial] The Supreme Court [font=arial]had recently indicated that it would not hesitate to order a reinvestigation and proper prosecution of the accused in the Mumbai riots, on the lines of it's action in Gujarat.[/font][/font][/font]

[font=arial][font=arial][/font][/font][font=arial][font=arial]2. The daughter of Mohammad [/font]Ali Jinnah has asked the Bombay High Court to grant her claim to a sprawling home built by her father in India before the country's partition in 1947. Jinnah constructed a European-style seafront bungalow in the late 1930s here, where he lived with his wife and only daughter before moving to newly created Pakistan after Independence. [font=arial]On Tuesday, Jinnah's 88year-old daughter Dina Wadia, who lives in New York, approached the high court in a bid to gain ownership of the property, built on 2.5 acres of land estimated to be worth about $400 million.[/font][/font]

[font=Arial]3. The Patna High Court on Wednesday adjourned till September 12 the hearing of the Bihar Government's petition challenging acquittal of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and former state Chief Minister Rabri Devi in a disproportionate assets case.[/font]

WITH the aim to make Shimla clean, the Himachal Pradesh High Court  directed city Superintendent of Police A P Singh to strictly enforce a ban on spitting on streets, and take the guilty to task. It also advised the SP to post sufficient number of police personnel to keep a watch on the offenders.[/font]
