Dual nationality v/s dual citizenship

Dear All,

This query is regarding DUAL NATIONALITY V/S DUAL CITIZENSHIP wrt OCI Card holder.

1. A person has acquired an OCI on basis of  being an Indian Native (Indian Origin by Birth, born to Indian parents and previous holder of Indian passport).

2. A person is deemed to have given up Indian Citizenship on acquiring Foreign Nationality. i.e renounce INDIAN CITIZENSHIP*.

*As per the Indian Citizenship Act 1955, requirement is to renounce Indian Citizenship ONLY and NOT Indian Nationality on acquiring Foreign Nationality.

Additionally Indian Citizenship Act 1955 only talks about Citizenship and not Nationality. Further it also quotes Nationality and Citizenship are not interchangeable.

My query stems from this,

Based on the above, my observation is a Person of Indian Origin (By Birth/ Born to Indian Parents/ Previous holder of Indian Passport)  holding and OCI card has full right to call himself/ herself an Indian National irrespective of the fact that now he/she holds Foreign Passport.
