Future retail vs amazon

Hello Friends,

Hope you all may be aware of the recent Future Retail & Amazon dispute, where the case is to be heared at Supreme Court on 27 April. I want to know, if Amazon loses the case in Supreme Court, can they appeal the verdict at Singapore Arbitration International Court (SIAC). Please advice on the same. It would be really helpful.

The verdict of the Supreme Court cannot be superseded by the SIAC.

as the case pertains to Amazon India, it is governed by Indian Laws and Supreme Court is the final authority in this matter being the Apex Court.  However, after the final verdict, in case the party finds that there is an error apparent on the face of record of the judgment, a review petition may be filed in Supreme Court itself.  However the hearing in this case is deferred to June 2021.

Yes, they can appeal to the SIAC as SIAC IA Rules 2017 are effective as from 1 January 2017, a specialised set of rules to address the unique issues present in the conduct of international investment arbitration

Now Future Retail is under Insolvency. NCLT Mumbai has admitted the insolvency petition.
