You can visit the concerned Tehsildar office in person and get clarified about the procedures in this regard and proceed accordingly.
Letters of administration or court decree will take huge time and money.

Hello,
I have read your query and would like to answer it. Legal heir certificate is an important document to establish the relationship between the deceased and their legal heirs. This certificate allows to transfer the ownership of the deceased’s property, bank accounts, and other assets.
Documents required to get legal heir certificate:
1. Aadhaar card
2. Voter ID
3. Ration card
4. Address proof
5. Death certificate
6. Self-attested affidavit mentioning all surviving members
Procedure to obtain legal heir certificate offline in Bangalore:
1. Application: Approach the court or taluk office and submit a duly filled application
2. Attachment: Attach necessary documents including death certificate, address proof and identity proof of legal heirs and the deceased.
3. Verification: Upon receiving application, the officials will initiate verification process and issue a tracking number.
4. Final approval: If the village administrator and revenue officer do not find any issue, they will send your legal heir certificate application to Tehsildar for a final report. Tehsildar can issue or reject the application.
Procedure to obtain Legal heir certificate:
1. Visit the online E-District portal of Karnataka
2. Select ‘Apply Online’
3. It will redirect to a page where you must fill your mobile number
4. Under the ‘New Request’ option select ‘Surviving Family Member’.
5. It will open an application form for a legal heir certificate in Karnataka on a new tab.
6. Fill up the details this form mentions and upload the required documents after scanning them.
7. Lastly, click on 'Save' and make your online payment to complete the process.
After this an acknowledgement message will be sent to your mobile number which will allow you to track the status of your application.
