Recovery of stolen mobile phone

Sir,

I reside in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. I had my phone stolen while in a metro train in New Delhi on Sept.15, 2024. I filed an online FIR for the theft early morning on 16th as i had to return to Kanpur later that day and asked my uncle (mother's brother) who is a resident in Delhi to handle the procedure in my stead.

The police called me earlier today that they have found the phone. Now they are asking me to come to Delhi in person in order to get the phone back from the Court.

It is not possible for me to go there again anytime soon so is it possible for my uncle to act as my proxy to retrieve the phone from the court? What will be the procedure/documents for getting the phone back? (If I can make him my proxy or I have to go there personally)

You give an authorisation letter to your uncle to collect the same by providing the copy of your identity proof and other details and request the police officer to excuse your presence and to hand over the phone to your uncle

Issue an authority letter by means of SPA or GPA to appear before concerned court for necessary action and attend proceeding on your behalf.
