Rent agreement for partnership firm

One of my client a partnership firm wants to take a premises on lease for business purpose. The landlord is demanding the copy of partnership deed and copy of pan card before signing the rent agreement. Can landlord legally demand such documents?

If not how can landlord get assurance about identity of firm and its partners?

Then you search for another building for the purpose of office of the firm.

Sir the lessee does not have any problem in submitting pan card of firm and kyc of partner but as far as partnership deed is concerned the partners are confused whether the they should submit it or not as it a confidential  document and moreover they are more confused about legality of the demand of deed by the landlord

Pls guide

There is no necessity to produce the partnership deed's copy to the landlord for taking the pemises on lease.

The firm can give a request for renting the premises on lease under its letter head giving a brief details of the business of the firm and the mode of payment of monthly rental and otehr minimum but essential details for the purpose of lease agreement

Landlord can legally demand partnership deed and pan card copy. It helps verify the firm's identity and its partners for the rent agreement.
