Vacating the interim stay granted in slp

My friend has applied for legal aid (requesting a Panel Advocate to defend his case as a respondent before Hon'ble SCI) at the SCLSC and got the provisional number after lodging the request successfully.

The SLP is scheduled for the next week.

What might be next stages for getting the Panel Advocate?

Thank you so much.

Good Day Suresh,

I have been working on your concern. Below is my response and the steps that will follow later on:

In the first place, SCLSC would call for all material documents that are necessary for the application to check if your friend is entitled to legal aid or not. This mainly depends on determinants like annual income and the nature of the case.

After the successful processing of the request, your friend will be provided with a Panel Advocate qualified for the nature of the case by the SCLSC from its list of advocates.

Once the lawyer has been assigned to your friend, your friend will be updated with the information about the lawyer including their contacts. This is mostly done through Email, SMS, or post depending on how the application was made.

After this, your friend can call the lawyer for a case update. The lawyer will go through all the relevant documents and prepare the defense side for the next hearing.

After all this, the lawyer will ask your friend for their signature on the “Vakalatnama” a document that gives an authority to the lawyer to appear in court on their behalf.

In the next hearing, the appointed lawyer will appear in the Supreme Court instead of your friend. In case the matter requires dealings on call for further hearings, the lawyer will take charge and represent your friend to the end of the case.

I hope that I was able to provide you with the answer to your query.
You are free to ask for a follow-up.
