doctor can register a medico-legal case at any time after admission if they suspect foul play or need to inform the police.
The treating doctor must report the case to the nearest police station immediately after providing primary lifesaving medical care.
The goal is to start legal proceedings as soon as possible so that the police can collect the most evidence.
Medico-legal reports include all facts observed by a medical practitioner and their opinion based on those observations.
