My father was allotted Vacant Land Tenancy (VLT) by MCGM (Mumbai) from 1960 for a small parcel of land. He built chawl on the said land parcel and has been recovering rent from the tenants ever since. Also, we have been paying property tax to MCGM from time to time till date. My father passed away in 2008 and is survived by his 3 sons and 2 daughters. We have not yet transferred the VLT in our names but have been paying property taxes and recovering rent from time to time. Rent receipts are also issued in the name of my father. Therefore, I would like to know how we can transfer VLT in our names and safeguard our rights as VLT holder(s) going forward & if we want to redevelop the parcel of land.
