3d printer ultimaker kit

Hi. I recently ordered a 3D printer from Europe. It comes in an unassembled form. It would take me a week to assemble it and start using it as a complete product. The total cost comes to about 98000 INR. It was sent from Europe to me through DHL. A DHL rep called me a few days ago to tell me that the kit would incur a 26% customs duty.

The problem is.. I would have bought it in India, If I could buy it here. But the 3D printer is not available anywhere in India. I agree, taxation is necessary when a product is available in INdia and yet it is bought from another country. But why am I being taxed when I bought it from another country only because it is not available in India itself?

Here are some details about the product,

Name : Ultimaker 3D printer kit

Descripttion : Used for prototyping 3D objects. Cannot be used for commercial purposes. Not available anywhere in India. Completely disassembled. Not a complete product.

Cost : approx 97000 INR

If anyone can give me any legal counsel as to how I might reduce the customs burden or waive it completely, I would be very grateful.

Thanks.
