compensation for overstay in jail

is there any provision in Cr.PC or jail manuals for compensation to a convict or accued who remained in jail during trial for a period more than he could be punished for charged offence ?

  Dear manimaran ! accused has been released after decision. but what about the excess period of imprisonment that he suffered as under trial due to delay in trial?

There are several instances where high courts have ordered compensation to the undertrials.
