How to transfer fd after father's death

Hi All,

Have a query regarding my father's Fixed Deposits in Bank.

My father had 2 FDs in bank in faridabad. My mother was the nominee in both of them.

Both my father and mother have expired and I am the only son.

My father didn't had any will.

How can I get the FDs transferred to my name.

Please suggest the procedure and what all documents are required from Court.

Also suggest some good lawyer in faridabad who can get things done for me.

Thanks in advance.

Vikrant.

Since your father nominated your mother, she was to get the proceeds of both the FDs on the death of your father. If your mother expired first, then the nomination becomes invalid.

Now, I believe you need to submit a (certificate) letter of succession to claim the fixed deposits from the Bank.

alternatively you can also submit a legal heir certificate to the bank.just enquire with the bank authorities whether they need sucession certificate or legal heir certificate as sucession certificate got to be got from court and a little tedious whereas legal heir certificate can be got from the revenue office (tahsildhar) of your area by making an apllication
