Each and every organ in the democratic soceity should perform its duties within its limits and if either of the organ crosses its limits then hype as you mentioned starts as has been seen in various matters concerning to media and judiciary.

There are both faces of this overactivism. Cehck and balance is one of this aspect but on the other hand some bad effects have also felt by this crossing of limits.

Yes, "Lot of hype on few cases alone . . ." What will be the fate of injustice, which are left unreported? That too needs urgent attention. Injustice is main cause of corruption.

As pointed out by Raj, limit and reasonableness of actions should be the guiding star.

Media is working as a pressure group. Illogical questions are being asked by the anchors and comments are being made without having any knowledge of the law and legal system. As the judges are also the part of the society and common human beings ,they are also prejudiced about the cases. The media people should not be entertained till they prove their credential that they are academically qualified and have mental capability to understand and discuss the law.

The legal fraternity should unite and put a check on the media reportings. There should be a line as up to what extent a media can report an issue involving questions of law.

Because of the long list of News channels, there is a cut throat competition among them. As a result the news channels succumb to the sensationalism. These days instead of covering the news, the media are creating the News.   The Media hype is very dangerous because, it appears that Judges and Magistrates in trial court seem to pass the verdict according to public perception with a view 'let the higher court decide during the appeals. Most of them can not be blamed because, due to several alleged cases of judicial corruption, they might also be thinking that, why to let the people or media to cast aspersions over my verdict, let the appeal court decide.

The media representatives donot not consider what the alleged accused might have to go through due to such forced verdicts.

TV told us that one Rajesh Ranjan was incharge of investigation in the CBI in Ruchika suicide case. An IPS officer of Bihar Cadre.

I have come across this news item and am posting it for information without confirmation whether he is the same person. Remember that the Investigation Officer did not deliberately record the statement of Ruchika's brother.

Officer cleared after six years

Dumka: Senior IPS officer from Bihar cadre and the former superintendent of police, Dumka, Rajesh Ranjan was exempted from a murder case after a lull of six years by the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Dumka.

Ranjan was accused of murder by the kin of the deceased who was detained in the police station while Ranjan was police chief in the district.

The incident started with the when one Tetka Hansdak of Saruba village under the town police station was picked up on June 14, 1995. Hansdak was detained in connection of his alleged involvement in a crime case.

Later, the man disappeared while in captivity in the police station. Matla Murmu and Sufal Murmu ? two other men picked up by police with Tetka ? were released by the police after interrogation.

In a significant development, the town police in their compliance to execute the order of the arresting warrant sent by the court had written: ?The accused died in an encounter in one of the neighbouring states around Dumka?.

The report by the then officer in-charge of the police station gave an opportunity to the next kin of Hansdak to put the police on dock.

If courts don't work and DONS decide cases, what is wrong with media trial?
