Other than the recordings, what is the truth? Pl. note that oral evidence, after cross-examination is as good as documentary evidence.

Yes, her statement, if corroborated by other witnesses, it is admissible.
However, generally such statements are proved baseless in cross-examination of witness.

Court battles are always tactics to use law in your favor whatever may be circumstances.
First note that no body will dare to produce recordings since it will spill out many other things against them.
Now even a FIVE HUNDRED mobile has VIDEO recording facility so you also start telling that you have their video recordings that they were abusing in most filthy manner.
NEED NOT WORRY AT THIS STAGE SINCE THERE ARE LOTS OF LEGAL LOOPHOLES IN ALL MARRIAGE RELATED LAWS .

if any false evidence is given by your in laws you have right to cross examine them .
the evidence of physical assault would be injuries on her body , doctor certificate about these injuries etc . if relatives have seen some marks on your wife body they can give evidence of said fact .

If they produce any of such evidence / witness you have all rights to cross each and every witness from her. If she proceed and amicable solution is not arrived at, engage a good local lawyer and proceed to defend yourself.

What they can adduce or what she can tell before the court cannot be predicted, let she first come out with the case, see what she has stated in her 161 statements, what her relatives stated, what and how the police tailored the case,before anything conclusive is seen, do not be worried by confusing lot of things together.

Anything can be possible in 498a case. You need to be cautious from asking money from your wife and from such relatives who come to beat you on calling by wife..

Sec. 498 is quite dangerous for men being a very strong weapon provided for women.
