Absence of accused in plead guilty where penalty is only fine

In a case where an offence is committed under any special statute and where the sentence/penalty is only fine in terms of money, can a accused plead guilty through his counsel without appearing in the court and deposit the fine.
Pl. give some case law, if possible.

Yes. He can do so and may plead guilty as is done in may cases like challan under shop act, motor vehicle act etc.

yes it depends on the particular law which has been violated by him. Generally in IPC his appearance is necessary.
