Sir,
I have applied for the transmsiion of mutual funds and the company has asked me to submit an affidavit duly notarised on Rs.200 stamp paper for mismatch of name as per company records and death certificate.
When i visited a lawyer for drafting, notary etc , i was astonished to know that the affidavit will never be asked on such a high value stamp paper i.e., Rs.200.
So, I would like to know that whether the company was right in asking for affidavit on Rs.200 stamp paper?
If the answer is negative, please let me know whether I can lodge complaint for the same.
Thank you.

The stamp duty differ from State to State. In which state you are living and in which state the Head office of company is situated.Generally company ask for higher of the two.
In Haryana affidavit on stamp paper of Rs.10/- is applicable.
I doubt Stamp fee of Rs.200/- is applicable in any state. Any expert may share if it exist in any state.

Submit the affidavit on Rs.20/- stamp paper and ask the Company to do the needful stating affidavit on Rs.20/- stamp paper is enough instead of making complaint on petty matter.

Agree, write to the Company that proper Stamp fee on Affidavit is Rs. 20/-and not Rs. 200/-.

On some issues the NJ stamp value in Karnataka is upto Rs. 100/- however the affidavit on NJS is to be submitted to Mumbai, so the stamp value may be of Maharashtra State Rules, which may not be of the value of Rs. 200/-, hence as advised by Expert Mr.Rao, proceed with Rs. 20/-, if there is any objection, let them furnish the correct detail. Also verify if it is Indemnity bond or an affidavit.
