This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir/Madam,
With regard to the recent amendment for the Land reforms act in Karnataka saying non-agriculturists with income within 25L per year can register the land I have the below query.
Some of friends [non-agriculturists and income less than 25L] have shortlisted an agricultural land for making farm house and
grow vegetables etc. in the same land which is about 5-10 guntas for each of the friends. Earlier there was a limitation for buying the agricultural land (restricted for non-agriculturist and income more than 2L). So wanted to know the procedure for registration and document verification.
Also one of the person in our group owns agricultural land in his father's name in AP. So would it be considered for buying agriculture land in Karnataka as well?
Regards,
Jagadish

Dear Jagadisha,
In order to buy an agricultural land in the State of Karnataka, a person should primarily fulfill two conditions :- (1) Should be an Agriculturist (2) Should not have an income of more then 25 Lakhs from sources other than agriculture. At the time of Registration of an Agricultural land, the Registering Officer will insist for a document to prove that the purchaser is an Agriculturist. As for as income verification is concerned, the Revenue Officers shall conduct an enquiry and if the purchaser satisfies the authority that he is eligible to buy an agricultural land, than the Revenue Authority will mutate the Land records in the name of the purchaser. Even a person who holds an agricultural land in other State is also eligible to buy an agricultural land in Karnataka.
The person in your group who owns agricultural land in his father's name in AP is not eligible because land is not in his name but in his father's name.

Thank you so much for the quick reply Sir.
I was referring to this link: http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-others/land-acquisition-karnataka-eases-norms-for-people-not-engaged-in-agriculture/
where it was mentioned that the non-agriculturists can also buy the land but I wasn't very sure about it.

The Karnataka Land Reforms Act now does not allow non-agriculturists whose income is more than Rs 2 lakh per annum to buy farm land. Any person who does not own agricultural land in Karnataka is a non-agriculturist. Non agriculturist cannot buy agricultural land. you have to belong to agricultural family or should be agricultural labor. However there is a consideration going on in he state assembly in this regard to allow the non-agriculturist to buy the agricultural lands in Karnataka
