Approvals for Canteen

(Querist) 06 October 2009 This query is : Resolved
Dear Professionals,

A company desires to appoint a contractor, who will be serving breakfast, lunch and evening snacks in the company's premises (canteen). The contractor shall bring the cooked food items and nothing will be cooked in the canteen, apart from making tea / coffee and sandwiches for breakfast.

Please let me know if any license / permission / approval under the PFA Act or any other Act, will be required for this activity from the Company's point of view.

Thank you.

Regards,
Naveen

You will have to seek prior permission from Chief Medical Officer of your area for this purpose under Prevention of Food Adulteration Act and in my view no other act is to be complied in such matter. Let the opinion of other experts come.
