Judge says that he will release accused in benefit of dought. So what do u mean by benefit of dought? example to understand or any case law.

The court can convict the accused only when the offense is proved beyond reasonable doubt.
In case of doubt whether the offense was committed by the accused or not, this benefit of doubt will be always given to the accused.

Hi, Here's an example. I don't know if you stole the money, maybe you did and maybe you didn't. Because there is doubt, I'll assume that you didn't. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. In other words, you benefit from the fact that there is doubt.

It means that the evidences led by the prosecution are so so strong, which may lead conviction of the accused.
