Can chat act an an evidence

Can chatting made on gmail be used as proof in court.
If yes what is the procedure to submit the same in the court.
Does it need to get it verified from cyber police or something like that

There is no such instance wherein the chatting might be produced by prosecution in India.

Raj Sir is absolutely correct, Indian Evidence Act does not provide that chatting can be used as an evidence.

As the chatting is done through exchange of electronic mail and the same is admissible as evidence after the recent amendments of Evidence Act, to me it is a valid evidence.

Indian evidence Act not provided email as evidence but we are using. Like that conversation through chats can also be used as evidences
