Can we correct a will deed using correction ink/whitener

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 11 August 2023 This query is : Resolved
My doubt is whether a will deed be corrected by striking out a sentence/word with a pen or using a correction ink/whitener ? do the testator have to sign the places where the corrections were made?
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 12 August 2023
If you are a testator you can make a codicil of the Will. If the Will has not come into force then and if you are not the testator and if you are the beneficiary, then you cannot make any correction or rectification in the Will during the lifetime of the testator.
The testator is the only person legally allowed to change/correct his or her own will. - Further, A Will can be changed/corrected within 2 years of the date of death of the testator , as long as the beneficiaries in the Will all agree by deed.
Dr. J C Vashista (Expert) 12 August 2023
Instead of making correction, obliteration, or modify the document (using any method) it is better to re-write the will if testator is alive and willing.
Advocate Bhartesh goyal (Expert) 12 August 2023
Yes, making corrections or sticking out sentences/words creates suspicion so better testator should cancel the will and re-write .
