A approver in the case has given a statement which dis not mention my name during investigation and also given a statement in the magistrate at that time also did not mention my name. Now he has been called for witness examination - This fellow is now threatening me that unless I give some amount to him he will also take my name now or implicate me as having taken bribe. Whether this is acceptable to court now if he changes the statement. What I have to do in the above situation. Please guide me as so far in the case my name has not been taken by any witness.

First Try to be Friendly with him and Record all his threats very carefully and then Discuss with your Advocate.

You should not get yielded to such black mails which would be an never ending story. Be Brave and handle it carefully and cautiously. Discuss with your Advocate.

Your story does not seem to pertain to some real problem.
However, if there is even slightest truth in your story, you need not pose blind faith on your lawyer. Your lawyer may not be correct in saying that a witness cannot change his statement under the pressure of the CBI. So, be aware, anybody can change his statement any time later on the pretext that he was forgetful to some extent about the incident, which he could remember later. However, that all depends upon the competence of your own lawyer of how much salt he is worth to get the wrong statement scuttled down through the same witness.
