Please can anyone help me. I have been cheated by an investigative firm for 2 lakh rupees. I had approached them 2 years back regarding evidence against my wife who had eloped and secretly married. Now they have not done my work till date. Is there any way I can file suit. They are cheating many people of Mumbai city in this manner.

The situation is novel. But still then action lies either in a civil court or a consumer court. First of all, you may serve a legal notice.

Whether they have given any progress report / bill during this period ?

It is not a surety that they succeed in gathering required evidences, but they should give details of efforts done in the matter and expenses incurred so far.

If they have done nothing, may lodge police complaint.

May approach consumer forum.
