Resignation not accepted

(Querist) 31 May 2012 This query is : Resolved 
sir,
a friend of mine is working with x.y.z university. since he was not satisfied with the job he left it. according to his agreement he has to give 3 months notice or equivalent money.his terms of contract ends on 1-6-2012 and he resigned on 20-5-2011. now the university is not allowing him to leave and has send him a legal notice.
plss guide us if there are any legal provisions which can help us as well as judgments regarding the same....

heavens would not have fallen had the employee worked for another 10 days . his tenure was ending as it is on 1st June 2012 . he ought to have complied with the provisions of contract .

he should complete his tenure with univwersity

his resignation has not been accepted . he should either give 3 months notice as provided under contract or pay 3 months salry

he is ready to pay 3 months salary but they are saying he has not fulfill his duties although he has done all the duties... sir is there any provision in law which we can show them or any judgement under such circumstances...!!!

As he had left the job before expiry of the period of contract and without giving the 3 months notice, the employer can demand notice period pay, for relieving him from the service.

His rights depends upon the terms and conditions of his employment with the university.
