Procedure to covert religion

Respected Expert,

One of my friend want to change his religion & adopt muslim religion. Will you please guide me what are the formalities required and legal formalities in this regard

To convert to Islam and become a Muslim a person needs to pronounce the below testimony with conviction and understanding its meaning:

I testify “La ilah illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolu Allah.”
The translation of which is:

“I testify that there is no true god (deity) but God (Allah), and that Muhammad is a Messenger (Prophet) of God.”

It may be pronounced even in privacy without witness or as desired if one wants to get it witnessed,may be in presence of a
molvi or qazi.

No legal formalities are required except that it must not be under any lure or to bypass any legal obligation already incurred.

no legal formalities required. once converted then need to do follow some legal formality for name and religion.
